BPF and Hammonds seminar: Getting property moving again

EVENT:

You are invited to join Hammonds and the British Property Federation to review the prospects for property development and investment in the north.

Over the summer, work restarted on Land Securities’ Trinity Scheme and there have been positive indications from other developers that their projects will now proceed. Yet bank finance remains difficult to obtain and the region faces a period of uncertainty over government funding as Yorkshire Forward bows out. Can the City Region and Local Enterprise Partnerships provide the impetus for development? Is tax increment finance the solution to regeneration?

Our speakers will include Martin Farrington, Director of City Development at Leeds City Council and Gerald Jennings, Portfolio Director for Retail at Land Securities. They will be joined by our chief executive, Liz Peace, to debate the issues. There will also be an opportunity to find out what we are currently doing to assist the property industry.

Event report

Of the expected 200+ guests, almost all managed to join us for the reception, presentations and panel discussions – and all inspite of the decidedly seasonal weather. Keynote presentations were made by Gerald Jennings of Land Securities, Martin Farrington of Leeds City Council and Mark Simpson of Hammonds LLP. The panellists included Robin Dobson of Hammerson, Alex Munro of Knight Frank and Grey Stype of Squire Sanders LLP.

Our thanks to Hammonds who did a sterling job in putting the event on and getting everyone there, and to all the guests who made it out in the Arctic conditions. We hope to run a number of events for members in the regions in the future – although next time perhaps not in the middle of a record breaking cold spell.
