GRI Construction and Real Estate Sector Supplement final stakeholder consultation

EVENT:

Beyond the Bottom Line: Delivering Meaningful Environmental, Social and Economic Reporting in the Construction and Real Estate Sector
GRI Construction and Real Estate Sector Supplement final stakeholder consultation

The Coalition Government has committed to explore reinstating the Operating and Financial Review, and also is due to give its final verdict early this year as to whether it will introduce mandatory carbon reporting under the Climate Change Act.

How are the property and development industries, and their wider supply chain, engaging with this agenda? Are they able to do so effectively and do they have the requisite tools available to them? Are the issues the same across the supply chain?

The BPF, UK Green Building Council and Hermes Real Estate have partnered with the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) to determine corporate sustainability reporting guidelines for construction and real estate companies, in the form of a GRI Construction and Real Estate Sector Supplement – ‘CRESS’.

The CRESS is currently in its final round of public consultation before being finalised later this year. We are holding a stakeholder workshop to provide a final opportunity to comment on the content within the CRESS, with the intention that discussions at the workshop will be channeled into a recommendations report to GRI.

The deadline for the consultation is 15 March 2011. Further details concerning the CRESS and its associated consultation, and how to respond, are available for downloading at GRI’s website.
