We would be delighted if you would join us for the launch of a set of sustainability metrics designed by the property industry, for the property industry.
As a sector we have a significant contribution to make in achieving climate change targets. To do this we need a set of agreed metrics on which to base the measurement of our environmental impacts and to monitor our progress. Up until now, a sometimes bewildering range of sustainability metrics have been used, which has made benchmarking difficult and hampered our progress. This prompted the Green Property Alliance to set up an industry-led working group to establish an agreed set of sustainability metrics based on common current industry practice.
We hope that these relatively simple metrics will be adopted both by those providing data and those requesting data, ensuring a more effective response to sustainability issues.
The Green Property Alliance is part of the Property Industry Alliance, bringing together the Better Buildings Partnership (BBP), CoreNet, British Council for Offices (BCO), British Council of Shopping Centres (BCSC), British Property Federation (BPF), British Retail Consortium (BRC), Investment Property Forum (IPF), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and UK Green Building Council (UK GBC). Each of these organisations will be endorsing the use of the metrics contained within the paper to their members.
To confirm your place, please RSVP to Charlotte Towerton at the BPF by no later than Thursday 7 October 2010.
