The government are proposing significant changes which improve the opportunity for launching REITs in the private rented and student accommodation sectors.

Winckworth Sherwood is organising a briefing on Wednesday 18 May at 12pm (followed by refreshments) at their offices, as part of the HM Treasury’s consultation on the REIT regime.

Keynote speaker will be Kate Barker CBE, the author of the original government paper promoting the vehicle.  She will be supported by Jonathan Lepper of HM Treasury, Derek Joseph of the Financial Information Company, James Duncan of Winckworth Sherwood, Richard Petty and Philip Hillman of King Sturge and Ion Fletcher from the British Property Federation.

This event will be of interest to housing associations, universities, local authorities, housebuilders and other institutions interested in REITs as an investment opportunity. The speakers will outline the planned changes in legislation and how a REIT could be launched thereafter.
