David Peck, managing director of Buccleuch Property, has today become chairman of the Scottish Property Federation and Jestyn Davies, managing director of Murray Estates, the new vice-chairman.
Peck became the SPF’s chairman at the trade body’s Membership Reception this evening, held at the Barcelo Edinburgh Carlton Hotel. Peck will work closely with MSPs and government officials on issues such as the public health levy on supermarkets, the scrapping of empty property rate relief and increases in planning fees.
David Melhuish, director of the SPF, said: “I am delighted that David has joined the management team at the SPF after years of invaluable work as one of the Federation’s senior members. He brings with him enormous experience and a strong understanding of the myriad challenges facing our industry.
“Our continued success in representing the industry is down to the involvement and commitment of our members, and David’s leadership and guidance will benefit us tremendously.”
David Peck said: “The SPF will need to play a central role over the coming year representing our industry’s voice in Scotland. The Scottish Government has taken what we consider to be some damaging steps recently, with a planned public health levy on supermarkets and the removal of empty property rate relief chiefly among them.
“It is vital the property industry continues to support the SPF in its work with Holyrood. I am honoured to have been asked to be chairman and very much look forward to strengthening that voice together with our new vice-chairman, Jestyn Davies of Murray Estates.”
