We make sure that the tax system, planning system, funding mechanisms and European laws don't undermine the regeneration of the UK,
and that the Government’s plan for growth allows for flexible, swift delivery of development to create the jobs and homes so badly required.
In May 2009, we published our Regeneration Manifesto, which called for TIFs, planning performance agreements and better guidance on European procurement rules, amongst other things, and are continuing to work in these areas. The Coalition Government has introduced a variety of measures to try and kick start regeneration. We are working with officials on the details of tax increment financing, enterprise zones and incentive packages to ensure that the provisions are as effective as possible.
We, as part of a wider consortium of organisations, commissioned a report on Training in Development Economics which also received financial support from the Department for Communities and Local Government. We’re involved with an on-going program of events and seminars to carry out the recommendations in the report.
This autumn/winter 2011, we're launching our Season of Growth. This series of events (large and small) will focus on using the available tools to promote and stimulate growth, and to increase shared knowledge and working between government, stakeholders, local aithorities and the development industry.
