What we do

Representing smaller private residential landlords

A big voice for private residential landlords

BPF represents private landlords through affiliated membership of regional landlord associations.

BPF Residential Tenancy Agreement

We have created a simple tool to help investment landlords create new residential tenancy agreements. It's easy to use for landlords with lots of rental properties and for those with far fewer. You can use this tool even if you're not a BPF member.

There are versions for assured shorthold tenancy agreements, including the three approved deposit protection schemes, for company lets and non-Housing Act agreements.

To get started, all you need to do is register - just provide a username, your email address and a password. But don’t worry, the site password is protected, so you don't have to worry about the security of your information.

Informal consultation on HMOs

As residential members will know, the BPF has led the fight over the last two years to prevent the Government imposing planning restrictions on HMOs. We were outraged that this was pushed through by the previous Government just before the election, but delighted that the current Housing Minister, Grant Shapps MP, has agreed to at least partially roll back those very draconian regulations.

What we can do for you

Issues that we cover for our private residential landlords include:

  • energy performance certificates
  • local housing allowance
  • implementation of HMO licensing/work with LACORS
  • engagement with the Rent Service
  • studentification
  • planning for HMOs

We also...

proactively monitor issues that are likely to affect your business;

actively work with Government and other regulators to develop legislation and fiscal conditions that support the sector;

happily put you in direct touch with the key decision makers;

regularly dissect and disseminate information on policy and legislation for your benefit; and

represent the industry on national TV, radio, national press and trade journals.
