Commercial
Encouraging the best conditions for our members and their customers, for example through the development of a lease code and accreditation scheme, the introduction of business improvement districts, the dissemination of good practice and the introduction of business improvement districts
Construction
Encouraging the use of construction contracts, considering health and safety and building regulations issues, and debating the need for increased capacity and skills levels in the construction industry
Finance
Influencing the development of international and UK accounting standards
Investment
Encouraging the best legislative conditions for investment in the property industry, for example through alternative investment funds, self invested personal pensions (SIPPs), real estate investment trusts (REITs) and property derivatives
Parliament
Engaging with Parliament by briefing Parliamentarians on policy and legislation, responding to select committee inquiries, and working with the All Party Parliamentary Urban Development Group.
Planning
Contributing to the government's proposals to modernise planning, opposing the planning gain supplement, commenting on planning position statements and working with other stakeholders on planning issues
Regeneration
Encouraging the best conditions for the regeneration of urban areas, particularly in large schemes such as the London Olympics 2012
Residential
Contributing to commonhold, leasehold and housing benefit reform and the development of the Housing Act, encouraging residential development, particularly affordable housing, and residential investment
Sustainability
Conducting research into energy efficiency in commercial buildings and the development of a comprehensive sustainability programme for the commercial property sector
Taxation
Influencing the development of taxation to benefit the property industry, including corporation tax, capital gains tax, stamp duty land tax, VAT and local and land taxes
