What we do
Good practice
We are keen to promote good practice in the commercial property sector.
With leases, much good practice is enshrined the Commercial Lease Code 2007, which has been thoroughly updated and simplified to make it much more usable for landlords, occupiers and their agents, solicitors and lenders .
We promote specific good practice measures to our members, such as our Declaration on Subletting. To ensure landlords and their agents follow good practice on service charges, we support the RICS Code of Practice on Service Charges in Commercial Property.
We also support a benchmarking group, called Real Service, which allows property companies and managing agents compare their standards of service in a confidential way, encourages the sharing of best practice, and, more broadly, demonstrates that good service equates with good performance.
To improve communication between the industry and its customers we also support the Owners' and Occupiers' Property Forum.
