This timely seminar will discuss the future for building regulations in England.

It will provide an opportunity for policymakers and stakeholders to assess the most effective ways forward for improving the safety and standards of buildings in England.

The conference takes place in the context of recommendations from the Independent Review of Building Regulations and Fire Safety by Dame Judith Hackitt, as well as the work of the Steering Group on Competences for Building a Safer Future, and the Government's Building Safety Programme.

Following the Review finding that a new regulatory framework is required for higher-risk residential buildings, delegates will consider its possible components and their implications for local authorities, residents, the construction industry and other key stakeholders.

They will discuss the practical challenges for implementation, including giving residents a greater say, putting in place an effective testing and inspection regime, and creating a clearer record of information for high-rise residential buildings.

The agenda also looks at the implementation and compliance issues for building firms, as well as what will be needed to bring about the necessary changes to business culture and regulatory oversight in the building sector.
