DIT announces British Property Federation as Programme Partner to create content at world’s leading real estate event
The Department for International Trade (DIT) will once again lead the UK government’s presence at MIPIM, the world’s leading property event, in Cannes in March 2018.
DIT will coordinate input from across government departments and work in partnership with the British Property Federation (BPF) to create a three-day programme of talks, seminars and discussions. Under the theme of innovation, the programme will consider current and future trends in the property sector, how the key players are adapting their business models to take account of this and what this means for oversea investors looking for large scale opportunities in regeneration and infrastructure.
The programme will bring together senior representatives from across the public and private sectors, and will provide views from both within and outside the UK.
Alongside this, DIT will showcase a host of investment opportunities from across the UK. A new multi-million pound collection of projects in Scotland will be launched, with eight schemes in Edinburgh, Glasgow, Perth and Aberdeen. New projects in Northern Ireland, updated portfolios for the Midlands Engine and Northern Powerhouse and further schemes across the South and South West of England will all be promoted by the Capital Investment Directorate, the team within DIT responsible for attracting investment into large scale regeneration and infrastructure projects.
The government pavilion at MIPIM will also support UK businesses with their export efforts, exhibiting to the international audience the country’s world-leading expertise in digital technology for the property and construction sector.
Minister for Investment Graham Stuart said:
“We are delighted to be leading the government presence at MIPIM once again. It is a fantastic platform to demonstrate to international investors the range opportunities that exist across the UK, and how government policy is creating a positive framework for inward investment.
“As an international economic department, DIT is here to support companies as they look to the UK as their global partner of choice.”
Melanie Leech, Chief Executive, British Property Federation added:
“The property industry underpins the delivery of many of the government’s economic and social objectives such as housing, education and healthcare. The British Property Federation has long championed partnership working with the government to deliver a world-class built environment and we are delighted to be working in association with the Department for International Trade, showcasing the strength of UK property to the global investment market.”
